Netgear Wireless-N Dual Band

I found this Netgear Wireless-N Dual Band WNDA3100 with my wife's aunt netbook. I don't think that she was using it, because she had wireless internet service with a cable company. What is this used for and do I need it with a wireless connection?

If you have a computer that isn't already wireless and you want to use it with a wireless router then yes you need it.

Is the modem from the ISP also a wireless router? It's possible she just had cable/DSL internet with a modem, and had to use that wireless router you found to actually get wireless to her netbook. If not, you can use it to provide wireless internet for your home if you don't already have one.

It's not a wireless router he found. If you Google the model number, it's just an adapter.
