network adapter better than onboard?

I wouldn't personally, think its crap & just a load of marketing IMO.

You may gain a few a few kbps here and there with downloads. maybe speed your web access up by a couple hundrenths of a second, and reduce ping by a few MS whilst gaming. Why fix it when it aint broke?

EDIT: omg £120!! just checked the link, I was thinking it was the old one and around £40/50 now. Which was JUST feasilble. lol don't spend £120 on that!

You could upgrade your rig with something well more worthwhile.

well...

graphics card is better than onboard
sound card is better than onboard

do you see where im going?

i would like to think that something like this might make a difference in online gaming!

thanx for you opinion, i am wondering how much of a difference it will make really

After spending an evening of gaming with and without the Killer NIC and Killer K1 on both our Windows XP Pro and Windows Vista Ultimate test systems it was the unanimously agreed by all that the Killer NIC and Killer K1 is not worth the added $180-$250 cost.

:)

I wouldn't personally but its your money, just don't get something you could regret later on ;)

yeh i see!!

the thing that got me interested was "free your CPU to focus on the game"....
Yes but think about it for a second, you have a quad core processor. The little bit of CPU usage that your NIC uses will be offloaded to a core that your game isn't even utilizing.

yeh you are right-

but the way it is advertised is-it free's up cpu and also can help reduce ping in gaming etc!!

Which is true, however network traffic takes up so little CPU usage that you won't see a difference even with a single core processor, let alone a quad core. As for ping, all it does is mess with QoS (quality of service), which will help if you have things downloading in the background, but once you hit the internet there is no such thing as QoS, every packet is equally important.
