Network Adapter

problem with my setting up the network..

so i buy a new hard drive, install it and start loading on my copy of XP. it all runs fine except for one hickup resulting in me realising i didnt plug the power into the hard drive:D

anyway, i started to install stuff onto it, and when i got around to my network connection it told me that i dont have the correct hardware for a network connection. i realized that i had to install the driver, and went through "help and support" in the start menu and found a link to "Add Hardware". i used this to find and install my network card (which i think is built into my motherboard, thats what it looks like when i open the case).

the card it found was called a microsoft loopback adapter, but im sure that is not what it was called before (although i cant remember exactly what it was before). i tried it with this anyway, and i cant get onto the network..

i never had a problem before so i dont know why changing the hard drive would get rid of the network..

any help would be appreciated:D

Is this a new build?? Or just starting fresh and reinstalling XP???

Did you use the drivers disc that came with the motherboard???

If you don't have the drivers, we can help you, tell us what motherboard you have. This is how - download CPU Z and tell us what motherboard you have, and then we can go from there :)

the only thing that is new is the hard drive.
so i bought it, put it in, installed XP, and im now trying to get the network connected..

the mother board is an "Elitegroup NFORCE4-A939" i havnt installed the drivers, which could be my problem, so ill look for those.

ta bro.
anything else it could be?

It most likely will be drivers, i'll try and find them for you.

Here you go - http://www.nodevice.com/driver/company/Elitegroup/Motherboard/page18.html - They are there.
