can anyone give me any feedback on this (draft) diagram i done for switch placement.

length is 250 meters by 140 meters.

each coloured section designates the sharing of a switch with each colour having a 48 port switch.

the green connections are fibre with the black twisted pair.

doing this leaves around 12-18 ports free in each section,

i was also thinking of meshing the switches?

for the drawing: i would separate into a logical and physical drawing. One like the above where your draw the cables and physical placing stuff. And the logical drawing from where you can see where each connection goes. something like this.

As for the setup itself. If you're planning on putting the switches themselves in the rooms: don't. You want to centralize your equipment and just run cables from the centralized equipment room to the patch outlets in the sections. This way you need less switches (only patch the outlets that are used into the switches). And you can easily cool your equipment. Not to mention maintainability. You don't want to go crawling into small spaces to replace a switch or something.

cheers for the reply.

ive will be re doing the diagram it was a basic draft and will be doing both a logical & physical diagram when i manage to pick switches (struggling). i still have switches in some rooms due to the dimensions of the building 250 meters x 140.

It's big that's true. I would separate it into a couple of hardpoints (server rooms) with a backbone running to each other.

I would just keep on planning on where you want the wall outlets, how many, where you want the wires and stuff. Picking hardware is the last thing you want to do. You can only make a good decision if you know all of the requirements of the hardware.
