Network Port/Card Question

Sorry this is a newbie question.

I'm going to university in the fall and an internet connection is available inside the dorm room. Basically I'm confused about network ports and network cards.

I plan on using an Antec Sonata case, and I can't figure out if it has a network port. If I get a PCI 10/100 network card, does the case have to have a network port?

Thanks.

The case has ABSOLUELY nothing to do with weither or not it has a network port. That is all dependent on the motherboard or an additional card. Most motherboards today have their own network card on them, so there's no need for a PCI card.

The case itself wouldn't harbor an ethernet port, your motherboard would. If you have onboard ethernet then there'd be no real point in getting a NIC, but if you do need to get a NIC, then it'll use a PCI port, and all cases have plenty of PCI expansion slots/ports/openings.

Edit: Dang, beat me to it. Darn music and it's distracting dance-enticing rythm:P.
