My boss is having trouble in their office with some computers not being connected to the printer and some other little problems.
Are there any good programs that setup a network besides the Microsoft options that come with WIndows ?
Like a good program that simplified the process of setting up and configuring the office network. So they could cut out their excuse for a network admin.
ANy help would be greatly appreciated

I don't think there are any software solutions aside from what's built in. There's really no need for one since it's extremely easy to setup printer sharing and file sharing using the wizards that are built into the OS and the software that comes with most printers.

If you post back here and let us know the specifics of your problem, I'm sure we could get your network running right in no time.

They could let the net admin go simply b/c he's not doing his job. Of course, perhaps there are more advanced issues that we don't know about.

Hard to say. Please post back with more info! Cheers.

That's what I was thinking ! Ive never setup a network in an office environment with printers and what not but I was sure it couldnt be too hard to figure out. I have done troubleshooting on many a home network with just a router but sadly no printer experience which is really weird lol.
I need to go over to the office and check it out personally. I asked him earlier today if they'd been having any problems and he said said yea and that his computer wouldn't print while the others could.

if you have them set in a workgroup all computers need to be in the same workgroup name change from the default on all computers (rihjt click on my computer and select properties)

the computer will require a restart. and should be a maximum of 10 computers.

attatch the printer to a workgroup computer install the drivers the right click on the printer select make default. right click on printer and select sharing select share this printer.

it should appear on the other computers under printers but if not select add printer. printer attatched to another computer and enter the path

//computername/printername
