i am moving into a school accomodation where dorm manager personally provides wireless internet access with a cheap wireless router something like, Belkin... not too sure.

i am very suspicious of his motives. i mean why would he would spend his dimes on internet access to students.

which is why i need you guys help !

plz tell me what i need on my centrino laptop ?

another router ?? software ???

you shouldn't need anything else
Since your laptop is centrino, you should already have a wireless card....thats all you need, plus maybe the wep key from him if there is one

hmmm...no one can trust anyone these days...no one can do a nice thing without being seen as a threat lol...but anyways, id be feeling the same way....try Zone Alarm free version. (or paid version if you want...much better. With the pay version of it there is a feature where you enter numbers important to you, like passwords and if that number tries to leave the computer there is a box that pops up and asks if you are sure you want to) With the free version, go into the 'Firewall' tab and put both the "internet" and "trusted" zone securities on HIGH level. That will probably stop intrustion attempts. I also like the option to STOP ALL INTERNET ACTIVITY with zone alarm. To do that right click on the Z.A. icon in the tray and click the button.
