network set up

I want to eliminate my access point(router) so I would like to set up network as follow:

-cable modem - wired straight to desktop
-use my laptop wireless connection with my desktop(wireless) as Ad Hoc connection to share internet connection.

How I can do that??
 
you'd have to setup internet connection sharing making your desktop the gateway and dns server your laptop looks at to go to the internet. In interest of discussion why do you want to do such a thing?
 
As I already mentioned here in forum,I have big problem to use internet browser.I have cable modem connected to wireless/Wired router(D-Link).
My desktop is connected to router with wire and laptop wireless.
Never had a problem till a week ago when my laptop works fine but desktop can"t use for internet.I am connected to Skype,chating all the time but can"t browse the internet neither with IE or Firefox.
I dont know whats the problem.Firewall is turned off.Already tried everything.I am desperate.
