Network setup help: use a wifi ap as repeater

Hello everybody.
My problem it's quite easy to understand: I got two IEEE802.11g routers, the first is the main one (linked with my adsl-modem), the other one can act as a repeater but I cannot understand how to configure it... The 2nd router is a Longshine LCS-WR5-2214-A and supports WDS and repeater mode for wifi range extension.

Can someone guide me through the configuration? From the default settings (as I can see is the same "standard configuration" of any router), what do I have to enable and which services I need to turn off?

Tnx for replies

Do they both allow for Wireless Bridging?

im not sure how to acutally use this function, i did try it at home, but only one of my routers is compatible =/

I've tried this configuration:
  • Mode: bridge
  • IP:192.168.1.2
  • Subnetmask: 255.255.255.0
  • Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
  • WDS enabled: selected the same channel as gateway, inserted the gateway's mac address e wep-key
  • DHCP disabled: i've tried to enable it too, but i think it will create conflict with the gateway's dhcp server

First off try with out the encyption. That is probbly the problem that the WES isnt right. DHCP should be off (Never DHCP routers/WAP's etc.
Make sure that the Subnet is right on both devices and come back to us

why would you never DHCP a home router??? it makes things soooo much easier, especially when buying cheap routers with flakey (at best) firmware.

I mean you would never DHCP thoese devices (so they dont lease addresses) as when setting up briding it has to be static.
