Network trouble after switching to adapter

I used to have a wireless network setup. I moved my computer downstairs and plug it directly into the modem/router now. The computer I put upstairs is a dell 8250. I purchased a d link wireless adapter for my xbox, it now serves the upstairs computer for internet. My network no longer works and I don't know how to fix it while using this adapter. I believe it worked automatically without any set up (the internet). I am pretty sure it is connected to my internet and not a neighbors. Thanks for any help.

What exactly in your network isn't working? The Dell and Xbox? Or everything?

Also, can you link us the D-Link adapter you bought?

The dell I put upstairs with the adapter, basically I have internet but no network that I can see. the xbox is gone. My other computer had a wireless card when it was upstairs.

That looks more like an access point, which means there will be no drivers for it. You should have gotten instructions for it on how to set it up.

Does that dell used to connect to other computer? If you can get internet from that adapter, that mean it is working with what ever driver you have, maybe is the networking settings you need to change/install.
