Network via router one comp wired other wireless

I had a network set up between two computers connected to the same router via cable, both computers running win XP. Now I can't connect by cable on one of the computers and it connects with the router now via wireless and while the computer can connect to the internet via that router the two computers can no longer see each other in my network places.

Could someone tell me what I need to do now?

Are you sure you are connected to your own wireless router? As long as no settings have changed they should be able to detect each other.

No ideas? I tried pinging one of the computers from the other and it went through fine so they are definitely connected with each other.

I've new information:

I have 3 computers in my house and a smart phone, when I look at the list of IP adresses in my router menu, two of the computers (both connect via wireless) and the phone have under "Port" listed "SSID1" while the one computer that connects via cable has listed "LAN3."

I don't know what this means, does this matter?

Also, I noticed that I can now no longer ping the wireless computer from the wired computer, but I CAN ping the wired computer from the wireless. (these are the two that I'm trying to get to see each other)

When I attempt to ping the wireless from the wired it says request timed out.

Additionally, the three devices that connect via wireless have similar IP adresses:

192.168.1.41
192.168.1.42 amd
192.168.1.43

while the computer that connects via cable is

192.168.1.21

Again, I don't know whether this matters at all.

The computer that connects via a cable seems like its assigned an IP address manually. Go into the tcp/ip settings and make sure its checked to get IP automatically. Also, you may have an issue with some security software running on one of your machines blocking access to it.

Sorry for the late reply, one of the computers was out of commission so I couldn't try your suggestions, but now I did, and IT WORKED!

I checked the IP address and it was set to automatic, it was the NOD antivirus on the wireless computer that was blocking the connection. When I turned it off the network started working.

Do you know how I might make the connection work while NOD is on?

I'm not familiar with nod32, you will most likely have to visit their website for support. Most have forums you can ask questions in.

AGAIN I'm having trouble with this. Now, even tho I've kept NOD off the whole time, since that day when it started working it's only worked one other day, other than that it never works.

So today, just before I sat down to write this post I check "my network places," neither computer can see the other. I try pining, both computers can ping the other (although on the wireless computer one packet travels 2 ms, another 109). I check my network places again, nothing. Then I sit down to write this post and just before I click submit I check my network places and I can see and access the other computer.

Does anyone know what might be happening here?

I think possibly it starts working after I try pinging, because from what I recall that other day when it worked it worked after pining as well.
