Networking two computers?

I have set up both my computers back to back and want to network them together so they can share documents and the printer. How exactly can I go about this?

I have an 8-port switch so I guess I can connect both computers to that, will that allow them to share documents?

And how can I share a printer between them? If they are both connected through the switch can one computer detect a printer plugged into the other computer?

Run the network setup wizard on both machines, enable file and printer sharing. Make sure both computers are on the same workgroup but named differently. Then install the printer from the machine that has to access the printer from the other machine.
