What OS do you have and YES it can. You have to use ICS or internet connection sharing. It has been a part of Windows since 98se. I have never personally used it myself. I have heard that multiple users will cut the bandwith in half for each user that uses the intrnet at the same time and the nootebook or "host" will have to be on for the others to connect. ICS actually acts like a dhcp server and will hand out ip address , in windows 98 and win 2000 you could say what the ip addresses would be. In xp you cannot andyoucet the default out of the box 169.xxx.xxx.xxx ip.
