New 500GB WD SATA; Is not recognized as drive letter.

I plugged it into my SATA2 slot. BIOS shows both drives working properly. Device Manager says they are both there and working fine. But I can't get into it. I believe that it must not be partitioned since I have not partitioned it. How would I go about doing that? Thanks.
 
You probably havn't formatted or partitioned it. Right click on My Computer and click Manage. Click Disk Management, and see if the drive appears there. You should be able to right click on the drive and partition it then format.
 
I found a post similar to mine, the advice was to check the manufacturer for software tools. I went to Western Digital and found exactly what I was looking for. I transfered all my 250GB info to my 500GB and repartitioned my 250GB for Ubuntu. Thanks for the replies.
