new AMD setup

do you have any suggestions for a gpu that is actually in stock?

You should wait for it to come in stock or get it from some where else. There isn't a better alternative for that card. If you want something cheaper that isn't as good then you can get the 4890. Check around see if anybody has a 5850 in stock. There is a good reason there are none left. It is the newest thing out and will last you 3+ years before it gets to weak. When that happens you can just get another one for crossfire. That motherboard I suggested supports dual crossfire at x16,x16 or quad crossfire at x8,x8,x8,x8.

is that a good gpu for using a cad program?

Not really sure I don't know to much about cad. For cad I would think you would want a nvidia quadro or something like that, but they are very expensive. There are different GPU's designed for things like cad and gaming. I'm sure the 5850 will be able to handle just about anything it is one of the top GPU's out atm.

thanks but i do think i will end up going with the 5850 because at my school the cards aren't very good at all so i think that will be fine with cad but i also plan on eventually planning on getting games and gaming on the computer so that way it will work better

IF your stuck on 5850 go with that then
