New Antec 650w +80 PSU noisy

At first I thought it was the cpu fan but I put a new fan in yesterday and the noise was still there so I put my ear up close to theback of the power supply and it seems that it is the power supply making the noise. I just built this comp 2 days and and every since my first boot up it is a permanent winding noise like a baseball card on a bicycle tire. It's not extremely loud but it's to the point where it's annoying. I installed win7 last night and everything is running fine and core temps don't go above 42c while playing WoW and CS:S at the same time.

If there is a whining noise, it isn't anything wrong, it is just capacitor/coil whine, where it is resonating at an audible frequency. You could contact Antec and they may replace it for you, but if they say no, you can't do anything really.

Is there any way to make it quieter?

As I say, contact Antec and get them to replace it, otherwise you can make it quieter, but will lose your warranty. Before I explain, that risk, as well as the potential risk that always comes when playing with components comes into play, so as long as you follow the advice, nothing adverse should happen, but in the event that it does, I won't be held responsible.

Identify which coil is causing the whine. The best way is with a rolled up piece of paper to your ear to find where exactly it is coming from.

Once you have found out, power down your system, by which I mean no external power to it at all and leave it for half hour or so.

Take the casing off the PSU, find the coil that is the culprit and use hot wax/glue to cover the coil. Put the casing back on, power up your system and see if the whine is still there, which assuming you covered the correct coil, it shouldn't be, because the wax/glue is dampening the vibrations

I would not recomend doing this and losing your warranty. As Aasti already said even he won't reccomend doing this.
How annoying can that voice be?
The best thing you can do is try taking it to Antec. With my experience of Technical Support guys at warranty cover they would much rather cover this kind of thing compared to if one of your PSU->Motherboard pin Voltage is below the tolerance level.Just tell them your friend has the same PSU and it doesnt make that kind of noise.I have gotten away with that once.:D

I'm starting to wonder if it is the power supply or not
