New build advice/suggestions

I'm looking to throw together a new system sometime before the end of the summer. The problem is that I work so much that I haven't had time to do any research on what's out there. I tasked a friend of mine, who has a moderate knowledge of things, to try and suggest some parts. Here's what he came up with.

Case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UW

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI

HD: Seagate Barracuda 200gb

Graphics Card: Powercolor Radeon x800gt

RAM: Corsair XMS 1gb (2 x 512mb)

Cooling: ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro Cooling Fan with Heatsink

DVD/CD: Sony 16x DVDR Burner

Powersupply: Rosewill 550w

I already have a monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc.

My primary uses are going to be normal everyday internet use, some minor video editing, and moderate gaming.

Any advice or alternate suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to keep it under $1,000. Thanks.

The price of the AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ is going to drop to $169 on 7/24. That is the only change I would make, everything else looks great.
