Wondering what exp. builders think of this setup. First build. Already have 8800gt, 700w psu, and case. Below is the other stuff I plan to get. I know alot of people don't like Vista but I kinda want to give it a try and make my own opinion of it. :) Any comments/suggestions welcome! :)

Well i can get all of this for about $500 so that's my budget. Of, course cheaper is always better. I had mocked up an AMD build with what can be somewhat compariable to this and it was just a little cheaper, but I liked this better for the price. The one thing I am still on the fence about is the cpu. Not sure if the Q6600 or the E8400 is better for gerneral computing and somewhat engauged gaming. Which is better Quad at lower 2.4ghz or Dual with a higher 3.0ghz?

I would just stick with the Q6600. 4 cores is always better in my opinion.

If you're concerned about your budget, you could downgrade your motherboard just a little bit. you probably won't need a motherboard that extreme.

The mobo and cpu are in a bundle. Its about $380 for both. Every other ones I found didnt have everything I want, and if they did not many had much good to say about them. I want PCIX 2.0, eSATA, SLI option, decent overclockability, and a board that will last a while with good future upgrade options. I know i7 has somewhat killed my future upgrade options with the socket change, but I know 775 will still be around for a while.

With that said, you're mobo should be fine :D

Well Quads are better for running programs and such, and dual core's are better for gaming as of now.

I figured the quad is like 2.4ghz x 4 where as the dual is 3.0 x 2, so the quad out weighs the dual. I guess???, that's why I went with the quad. It's all kind of confusing.
