Insteadof the 8800GTX I'd get this and overclock it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130296

Wow, I didn't realize the specs on the cheaper 8 series cards were so good. I am considering this card here in place of the 8800GTX superclocked.

EVGA 512-P3-N802-A1 GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

The big pro here is that I could get two of these and run them in SLI for the price of just one 8800GTX.

I have two concerns. First it says the interface is PCI express 2.0 and not PCI express X16. I was under the impression that PCI X16 was the superior interface. Will PCI 2.0 seriously bottleneck these cards? Especialy in SLI? My second concern is the stream processors. The 8800GTX has 128 while this card only has 112. How bad will this affect performance?

Thanks.

PCI-Express 2.0 is x32. However this is socket-compatiable with x16 so if you put a card such as the 8800GT on an old PCI-E 1.1 (x16) motherboard it'll just revert to x16 mode.

The stream processors are harder to think about now; the 8800GTX uses the G80 core and the 8800GT uses the G92 core; this means that they use them differently and the G92 uses them better. The new G92 8800GTS will be out soon but prices for that will be higher than the GT. (but it does beat the current GTX)
