New Build: Hard drive question

So I'm building my first computer to replace the 8yr+ computer that my mom currently has. Her current hard drive has a ton of photos on it.

I plan on using an SSD for the OS and have a mechanical drive for programs, games, photos, etc. My question is, can I also install her current HD into the new system and name it drive D or whatever so she can still access all her photos and programs she has? Its the only HD she has currently so it does have Win 10 on it which might be a conflict in a new computer.

If not, I will have to research a simple way to transfer the photos from 1 HD to the other having no experience in doing this. That might require a totally new thread as I fumble my way through it.

Thanks

Honestly I'd get a new drive to store them on. You can install it in the PC temporarily to drag and drop files. There are also external kits you can use to connect it.

Worst case scenario get a decent flash drive and just use that to move files between computers. You could also network share across your LAN.

Plenty of options
