G'day dudes.. Since its my gap year just working my arse off for uni.
So Ima going to treat my self to a good computer. :D
And since i'm going to spend the cash I want to spend the cash right.
Few problems I havn't hit the PC scene for ages so I just don't know whats good.
I have about 2k-3k spending money.

I Know that I'm Definately going to get a quad core... So I was thinking a..
Q9550 how clockable are they? Then I was thinking of ZALMAN CNPS9900 to
cool the beast unless you guys have any suggestions.

Around 1-3terrabytes of storage. So, I was thinking..
Main Drive W/OS Raptor 36gig
Then 2-4 600GIG Drives proberly Western Digital.

I'm not completely sure about DDR2 speeds these days but I see theres
DDR3?! Is there anypoint of getting the more expensive memory..?
Sure there will be a performance increase but is it worth the amout of cash?
Corsair XMS3 6GB DDR3-1600 Triple Kit for roughly $500 ?

I've got the case sorted I'm thinking a Thermaltake Speedo.. Looks Decent, or any suggestions?

Power im thinking around a 700-800watt.. Named brand.. But I want a PSU
That I can take the cords out that I don't use. I think they call it like modular or somthing?

Also the motherboard. No clue on that one So I need help =]

And graphics card.(I always used this rule: More Expensive the better)
Works with most things.. But still =] Suggestions!!

Thanks for reading all of this if you did I look forward to your answers. =]

They clock very nice. 4ghz is not uncommon. That cooler looks nice.

I personally wouldn't spend the money on dd3 unless I was going i7

Nice case but to expensive in my mind.

Yes, modular is what it is called. That range would be fine.

Also the motherboard. No clue on that one So I need help =]

All based on DDR2 memory

For overclocking a q9550 with the possibility of crossfire
- GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P
Same but Sli
- EVGA 123-YW-E175-A1 LGA 775

For overclocking a q9550 with a single GPU
- GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R

And graphics card.(I always used this rule: More Expensive the better)
Works with most things.. But still =] Suggestions!!

Here is the top ten rated GPUs out right now, order based on benching.
1# Geforce GTX295
2# Radeon HD4870X2

Wow, Legend. Didn't think I would get such a great post back thanks dude :D

What kind of memory would you buy then?

Ouuch 4ghz?! Cant wait.. Maybe I should search around for a better cooler?
4ghz should run somewhat hot shouldn't it?

Mhmm it would keep everything somewhat cool though. So I think i'll still snatch
it up. Do you have any case suggestions.. I liked that one cause it had good
features, Lots of cooling, Would be quiet and its half decent looking.
I'm still not sure. I just looked at PC Power & Cooling Turbo's 860 watt power
supply but they don't sell in the NZ. Plus they cost an arm and a leg. I think.
Do you have any suggestions?

Im honestly not a big fan of ATI.. but meh. Since I don't want to spend 1thousand to get the best i'll proberly just go for the HD4870 1gig..

I'll proberly go with the single GPU not a fan of Crossfire. =]

DDR2-1066 should suit up with your Q9550 fine.

4GHz will create plenty of heat, the Zalman should work fine in this case - remember thermal paste!

Yay! Replys.. =D

Sweet, DDR2-1066 should still be pretty cheap anyways.

Its called Artic Silver 5 or something right?

1 thousand? GTX295 costs around $499-$509 some cost more.

Ah, Your from the US thats why. In NZ it costs basically twice as much for everything.. =]

Cept, I just don't know what to get... Maybe i'll wait and buy the CPU and graffics card last.. Proberly would be best.

Oh, For the RAM I just found Corsair Dominator DDR2-1066 Dual Channel Kit for like $180.. Good deal?
(Apparrently its quite good ram?)
