New Build, not sure which Os to use, need help

Here are the specs:

Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz
ASRock P67 EXTREME4 GEN3 LGA 1155
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB 240-Pin DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
GIGABYTE GV-N440D3-1GI GeForce GT 440 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit DDR3
CORSAIR Professional Series HX650 650W ATX12V v2.2

I am looking at Windows XP 64-bit vs. Windows 7 64-bit

Forget XP now. Updates is done i think. You need security and critical for sure. Windows 7 Pro 64 bit is good. Will get updates for at least 10 years.
 
Definately windows 7. The only reason to install XP is if your system couldn't handle windows 7. Those specs are more than capable of running 7.
 
I would use windows 8, it is the newest OS with the cool new features, and I like it a lot. But, I like new stuff, and some people don't. If you want to stick with whats tested and awesome, go with W7. I am seeing some programs and stuff that don't work with XP now, and W7 looks way better with aero then XP with luna.
 
I do like XP x64, but I'm going to have to agree with the others here and say Windows 7. XP x64 isn't very compatible with anything really these days and I doubt you'd be able to get drivers for it with hardware that new.
 
Absolutely!!! Windows 7 is the best option for your specification.

I see that all the other members also suggested the same.
