New build problems

This is my first build for editing video content.

Right now, I think I've connected everything I can connect, but when I turn on the power supply, and hit the power button, the desktop does not power on. Led lights above the power and restart are working in the motherboard. I'll try give as much info as possible.

Tech specs are:

Asus X99-A
2011 CPU
RM850i power supply
Strix GPU
Corsair H55 fan

24 pin is connected
EARX 12V took an 8 pin. I connected that to the power supply with a 6 pin PCI - E cable.
All the fans were already connected in the back to a molex, that I connect to the female.I connected the H55 to CPU_fan and CPU_out
GPU is connected with an 8 pin and plugged in with an 8 pin to power supply
HDD & SSD are both connected

So, as of right now, I'm baffled.

When I put the CPU in, it fitted perfectly, but when I went to clip the arms in, one of the two would not push down to locked it. The CPU popped out. I check it, and noting was damaged. The second time, the arm did lock, but it did take a little more force then I felt comfortable with. I'm hoping the pins did not bend, but if nothing else is the problem, I'll need to go buy some accessories are remove it to check.

Did you connect your system panel conectors from your mobo to your case? Alternatively, have you pressed that PWR_SW button on your mobo from the photo?

What processor did you get? If you got the newest Broadwell-E stuff, the BIOS on the mobo might have needed an update before it is supported. Which would be a bummer for you.

I haven't connect to the case yet, but I'll give that a try. I have pressed the power switch on the motherboard, but nothing happens

I'm using the Intel icore 7 - 5820k 6 core

Did you use the standoffs between case and motherboard? Do you have memory installed? Computer won't boot without memory installed.

Are the RAM installed in the proper slots? Because if you're not filling all 8 slots right away, there's a certain configuration you'll need to have it installed in. Check your mobo manual for the configuration details.

Ram is installed into the right slots DIMM D1 and DIMM B1. I took them out, and tried turning on the machine with one removed, and switched them, but nothing. The GPU led light is also on.

I was worried about the CPU, in case a pin was dent. I took the cooler off and it looks good in there.

So, I took the CPU cable. The 8 pin splits to become 4 pin cable for the mobo, but the end is also 8 pin, and does not split to connect to the PSU as a 4 pin.

The PSU manual says if its an 8 pin mobo, then to connect it.

I'm guessing I'll need an adaptor to make it 4 + 4?

I also just got off the phone with someone who has the same PSU/Mobo as me, and had no issue using the 8 + 8 connection.

You plug the 4+4 pin (total of 8 pin) onto the motherboard. Then the other end that's a full 8 pin connects to the PSU in the section that say 4+4 CPU (upper right area should work)

Update on the great computer wars of 2016.

A friend came over to check out my build. He has experience building himself, and he took everything apart, and reconnected each piece. Once thing I noticed on the duel processor 5 - even before there is any boot, the processor got hot fast. Little bit too hot for our liking. At the end, no power came on, but the leds. So, best guess is the motherboard or cpu has a fault. I'll be bringing it to a no fix, no fee repair shop tomorrow to see if it is the motherboard or cpu.
