New build problems

Hello,

I have just put together a box, the specs of which are below. I have started it up and the reset and power lights come on, the fan over my CPU is spinning and the light for the ethernet port is on as my cable is plugged in. The problem is I dont get anything showing on my monitor, the monitor works fine as I just used it 10 minutes ago with no problems.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

semperon 3000 64bit CPU
ECSK8M800 mobo
80gb sata HDD
2x512mb hynix 184pin RAM
AOPEN optical drive

I know I am dealing with budget parts here but all should work fine, any help would be great.

Many things. One is the grounding of the motherboard on the back of the case cause you had the "nipple" problem. Also did you plug all the connectors in correctly from the power supply. Lastly and most probable is did you plug in your video card.

Unless i mistaken that mobo has integrated graphics so that shouldnt be a problem... unless he didnt plug the monitor into that

thanks for your replys, the problem was the RAM, silly me, I bought PC2100 ram instead of PC3200, thats sorted by the way and I have just finishing installing SP2, though this is my second attemp as the computer just randomly restarts, its done this 3 times now after being on about 4 hours in total, there is no case fan fitted, the only fans are on the PSU and the CPU, the air inside is cool though, are fans a must bearing in mind this setup runs no expansion cards and has plenty of clear space inside? The PSU is 400w but the rest of the specs are unknown,I got this from Ebay with the case.

Any ideas what the random restarts might be or any advice on extra fans?

EDIT: I just ran msconfig and there was some svhost files in there with a file call reboot.exe which was also pinned to the start menu, I have disabled these so I will keep you posted if the problem comes back.

It's the RAM. I accidently put my RAM in the wrong slots and I got the same problems until I fixed it.

BAD RAM = BAD SYSTEM
