origionaly i was going to get...

but after some positive feedback and some adjustments i have managed to keep withing the budget by switching to intel... thus upgrading the cpu and mb... also i got a slightly cheaper case...
P.S still open to sugestions....
also if u haven't read my previous post... i will be over clocking this system at a later point to get the max speed for ripping/gaming...

Hi,Just letting you know that the E8400 will out perform the Q6600 @ gaming.If you decide to go quad then I suggest you wait for the prices to go down and get yourself a Q9450 or better!there going down in pricers by the end of the year.Why get an old 65nm quad,when you can get a 45nm one with more FSB and Cache!
 
Mobo: P43/ P45 chipset are out.
Get GIGABYTE GA-EP43-DS3L or ASUS P5Q

PSU: Cooler Master Extreme 650W is not really good. With approx $100, there are plenty of options.
For example, PC Power & Cooling S610EPS 610W, CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W, OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI 700W

GPU: Not sure about your price. 8800GT 512MB are now starting from $160...
 
Looks like a good build to me. Only thing is, those prices seem pretty high for what components you have listed. Check out newegg.com to buy considerably cheaper.
