Ok so I am a little over my budget on this one But Its my first build and I will have to buy the parts like one or two a month so it will take a bit.

If you can suggest a good way to shave money just let me know, If things dont look like they will work just let me know, and by all means if you have any advice please speak up.

don't buy parts a few a month, if you just save up, by the time you would have had an operational computer the parts would be cheaper or there will be something new and better for the same price but you'll be stuck with whatever you already bought.

there is no point in the cooler, the processor can't be overclocked and the stock cooler is good enough.

8gb's of g.skill or corsair 1600 ram will cost a lot less and you won't notice a difference other than the price and having some to spare

you can get a 1.5tb for like 80, a caviar black is nice and faster and all but i'd rather get more space for less when the speed difference isn't that much.

not a fan of the case, spen like 10 more for a nicer case that has good cable management and looks cooler too.

750w is way overkill unless you plan to buy a second later on, a 650w is the most you need.

save 10, there's cheaper dvd drives with free shipping if you look around.

you need a copy of windows, costs 100 for win7 oem 64-bit.

So i changed a few things but didnt go with everthing you said.Id rather have the wd drive with 7200 rpm. I am not adding a version of windows as I will most likely be using linux.

I will still be buying a few parts a month even though i completely understand what you are saying. It is how we have it budgeted. That being said I will be buying parts such as my processor and gpu last and hoping for better prices.

otherwise looks ok. Agreed with an nvidia card, get the 560, they've dropped prices quite a bit and are a little better than the 6850. But for gaming you can't do much with linux, steam is only just adopting linux as a officially supported os and very few games work with it, similar to mac osx, they have been supported by steam for a while but still there aren't a ton of games that work with them IIRC, at least grab a windows8 beta and use it instead of linux, it's what i'm on, works fine and games good.
