New build won't boot Windows

So, today I went to the store and got an ABIT IP35-E motherboard. It has 3 gigs of PC2-5300 RAM and a Pentium D 3.0GHz on it.

I tried it without an HDD first just to see if it would get power and stuff and it went into the bios okay.

I put the HDD in, and it goes to the Windows loading splash screen for maybe 3 seconds, then flashes a blue screen and goes back to setup, saying something about a CPU error.

Also something about a CMOS error, that it's been set to default or something.

Poop.

What should I do?

I was thinking that might happen, but would that really cause it to give an error referencing the CPU?

Hold on, I will check exactly what the error says.

edit:

OK, it says: "CPU is unworkable or has been changed. Please recheck - CPU SOFT MENU"

Reset CMOS? Is the CPU compatiable with the mobo?

Well, it's a Pentium D 3.0 GHz, that's all I really know about it.

Mobo package says "For Intel Core 2 Extreme/Quad/Due, Pentium D, Pentium Dual Core Processors with FSB 1333."

I'm not even exactly sure what a CMOS is or how I would reset it. This is my first real build aside from making heavy modifications to some factory build.

I just tried putting the recovery disk in and booting from the DVD Drive and it looks like it's working.

It can't rewrite a whole disk and write Windows to it without a processor, right?

All that means is that it will support 'some type' of Pentium D. My Board will support several versions of Pentium D's, but my specific CPU (D 940) is not on the official support list.

I have no idea what FSB is, that's just what the packaging says.

I'm pretty sure my processor is Pentium D 945, but I couldn't find a list of supported processor models anywhere in the mobo's manual or on the googles. Is there a site for that stuff?

Then it might not be compatiable. You case might be around:

EXAMPLE:

Generic LGA775 motherboard, 800FSB supported. Supports Celeron D, Pentium, and Pentium D.

You stick an E4300 with 800FSB in there. It would work, but would cause problems due to incompatiablilty.

I think the second one is much better then the point no1,because in point no 1 there is no explaination of setting of mother board.

And point number 1 was...
