new build wont power up

just got done putting my computer together, wont turn on now, the power button doesnt do anything, any ideas

Hmm, you could try pushing the "reset" button instead, just to see if that works (Ive heard countless times of people accidentally getting those to mixed up, including myself )

If that doesnt work, check to make sure all wires are in the correct spot and pluged in securly. If that doesnt work, your PSU might be a lemon

is this you're first attempt to powerup, i.e. has it worked before? if it is the first time, make sure the psu switch is on, all power cords plugged in, and if the power and reset buttons are hooked up.

if all the cables are plugged in right, but the power button doesn't work, you might have to jump the pins

Reseat everything, remove power switch connectora and all from the MB and try to jump it with a paperclip or small screwdriver.


If neither work,strip out all hardware, start with 1 stick of ram, see if it works, then go from there.

just a noob - He will not need to jump anything. A power switch RARELY fails.

myPCrocks - Taking out a stick of memory or 2 will NOT make it start up. It will only stop it (if bad/dead/dying) from POSTing.
