New Build

I am looking for advice for building a new desktop. I would like to keep it around $500.00 (keep in mind that I already have a monitor and keyboard). I also have a brand new Intel Core i7 processor and a WD 1.0 TB HD. This computer will be used to run a trainer software for my bicycle (http://www.computrainer.com/html/sysreq.html). I need to have access to the internet (for updating software only) and I would also like the ability to connect it to my new Samsung 50" plasma. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Actually now that I look at it, it's actually the fan that came with the original processor. Apparently this is what I replaced when I built a gaming computer a couple of years ago (with everyone's help on this site). So I guess I DO need a processor. Any suggestion is welcomed.

Ah, the question! It's just better, thats all. Sg has less break up's than WD - search the web for tests and see for your self.

with the price of hdd i'd go with perf over failure rate unless theres a big gap.
I'm not promoting wd over sg, i have sg. but i also have a wd thats been used almost daily for 10 yrs.

I had a Seagate Barracuda and a Western Digital Caviar (black). I'd say I like the Western Digital more. Then again, it was a higher class drive...

well I use Sg's for years (my oldest is a ATA 120 GB bought in... uhm... ages ago!) and I had 2 WD drivers (500GB) that didn't last 2 years, while Sg's used in the same computer (one of them a 250 GB system disk) run for 4 years now with not ONE problem. but, to be fair, my external Sg 1 TB desktop agent broke after 6 months of using it... onec a week to back up my data! so... we can split hairs about it, but better lets help the man who started this topic.
