After building a computer for my friend and seeing how awesome it is I thought I would finally fallow through on my 3 year dream of building my own gaming computer. My mom said that if she was able to get my computer she would spot me $300 seeing how her work computer uses a AMD Duron at 1.2 GHz and 256 ram. I wanted to spend $1000 on the computer before tax and excluding a monitor.

just minor changes that will boost your performance greatly

Looks good..consider stepping the CPU up to a E6400 or E6600. You might also want to go with this gfx card, instead, and maybe fold on it...

Also, as a general rule, don't use the PSU's that come with cases...I would do as joe suggested and get the Coolermaster case and the xClio PSU...a great combo...I personally have the coolermaster case and it's fantastic.

How will increasing my hard drive space improve my performance

And how much better is the Radeon X1900XTX compared to the 7950gt KO?

you are gonna want the space. 80GB is nothing these days, and 160GB for 5 bucks more is the obvious choice

Get this case and get that new 8600 coming out, I think you will be more pleased with it. Also like joeswm8 said go with the 160Gb HD or even a 250Gb caviar Se16 they are SWEET I love mine. Get the DS3 Not the S3.
