New Card for new games

Hey everyone,
I know there's a lot of what kind of card should I get thread... but..

I currently have a x300SE, don't ask.

Anyway, I want either a 6800GS or better, the issue of course being cost. It is not so much an issue, but all I want is a game to run at 1280x1024 full AA and AF in Red orchestra:OST and Counter-Strike Source. I really only play VALVe games through STEAM anymore so nothing more than that would be required until X-mas time this year when I can get the parents to get me something better anyway.

So basically the question is, would a 6800GS hold me over till then or should I go big for a 7900GT, in which case I need a new PSU I believe because mines only 350W generic that came with the Dell we got issued.

DAnke.

I'm pretty sure you can run the 6800 pretty hard, as long as you have plenty of RAM, but if you have the money, why not go for the 7900? (true you might need a new PSU)

Man I would straight up wait to get a 7900 gt. IT might be more expensive but just the core clock and memory clock are atleast twice as fast on the 7900 gt and the 7900 gt has 24 pipelines where as the 6800 only has 12...There's a pretty awesome XFX 7900 gt right here

for only 289...know that amount sucks but it's worth it. The 7900 gt can outperform the 7800 gtx which is pretty impressive for a card that can be about 200 dollars less. And in all fairness it doesnt make a lot of sense to spend 150 and turn around in the next 6 months or so and drop another 300 or a card.
