umm im getting a new case and... i got a question

i have a zalman 7000 aluminum/copper at 450g, which is the weight limit of intel specs.

i do not have any thermal past left, do i need to take off the heatsink in order to move my mobo?

is there a chance it will break if i leave it on while moving?

cheers

ok, well, firstly as long as your not going jogging with the motherboard, no it would not break if your simply moving it whilst its attatched.

secondly, you can leave the heatsink on if you nee to, but it will be a lot more fiddly to route wires and other such stuff around with it in there...

In short, there is no rule saying you MUST take it off, but taking it off would make the whole process a lot easier...

you can leave it on but if you decide to take it off be carefull that it doesnt bring the cpu with it

sorry if i wasnt clear, i mean im moving the mobo out of its old case and into a new case. not just moving the computer. any1 moved a mobo freely with a large heatsink before?

Dude, you'll be totally fine. I find using the heatsink as a handle the easiest way take it out, then put it back in after an alteration.

Oh sorry about that, I misunderstood you. It will most likely be fine but it's up to you. Take it off for complete assurance or leave it on and it'll still probably be fine.
