New Case Question

I'm looking to buy a case to put my factory Compaq parts in until I decide to upgrade. What is the difference between a Full Tower and a Server case? Will a standard ATX MB fit both? Is there an advantage to either?

Thanks.

Standard ATX mobo will fit all cases exept micro ones (then of course you would need a micro-ATX mobo).

As for advantages and disadvantages, it really depends on what 2 cases your comparing, there are many dffernt types and design, what 2 are you looking at?? Do you have any pictures of them. If your jsut building a standard home PC then a full tower or even something a bit smaller would do fine, really you only need a server case if you.... building a server. They usually have a lot of cooling oppurtunities and not very many drive bays, not really for a home user at all!!

are you talking a rack mount case and full tower? yes an ATX motheboard will fit in either. A full tower should be more than big enough for what you need.

The two that I'm looking at is http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...t&productCategoryId=cat01069&id=1077627381801 and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811129158 . I have found that the server cases are a bit cheaper than the others and I get about the same stuff with them. I am not sure what MB I have because I'm just now trying to learn this stuff, but a friend looked at it and said it was a standard atx MB. Anyways I am just looking to expand in the near future.

Thanks

Yes that can hold any ATX or smaller motherboard, so pretty much every board will fit in there.

i think you got that backwards. Most cases that fit atx, will also allow you to fit a micro-atx. However that doesnt work the other way around.

I recently got the Maxtop CSF-800B. This case includes dual-speed stealth fan, swing-up carrying handle, USB 2.0, Sound Card, and Firewire ports! Great Case! Looks beautiful! Lots of Airflow! So overall its the best case did i mention it is easy to be carry around with the carrying handle.

Ok, I have made up my mind. I want to get this case http://www.newegg.com/product/produ...N82E16811125468 but my motherboard isn't that big. I think I have the standard one which I believe is smaller. Is this the biggest board it can support, but will work with the smaller ones too?
Hehe thats a hell of a case, it's brilliant :)

Depending on the who is using the terminology ... the difference is either a height difference of maybe 6" or nothing at all.
