Now I seem to have most of the things I want for a new computer, however I just realised I need a cd drive. Thing I am confused with is this.

I see my old computer and it has a disk drive, and a cd drive. HOWEVER, people are telling mem to get a dvd drive. Now is the dvd drive the same thing as my cd drive? The drive that plays games/programs/music/etc?? Is it like a newer version or something?

Also how come no one is telling me to get a disk drive and only a dvd drive?

i ment disquete drive. One where u put in your floppy disk.
Also, waht's the difference between dvd burner and a cd burner? What are the old cd drives called? Cd burners? Cause my current 1 is like 5 years old. So since it's just a cd burner does that mean I can't play and dvd's?

Thank you

a cd drive is called a cd rom and can only play cds a cdrw drive can play and burn cds, in todays market it makes sence to buy a dvdrw drive it can play dvds ,cds and it can burn to cd and dvd p.s no you cant play dvds in a cd drive just like you cant play dvds on a stereos cd player

I don't want to say Floppy Drives are "Dead", but they aren't used as much as they were 6 years ago. You can still use a Legacy 1.44mb to flash BIOS, and Save BIOS settings. For the most part, CD'S have taken over. For the Logical Driver part. I would get a DVD-RW or DVD-RAM. They are cheap and cost about 25-30 bucks.
