Hi, this is my first computerforum post. Ok so I recently bought a dell e521 with 3800 amd 64 x2, 1GB ram, and nvidia 7300le. When playing games (WoW, CSS, WC3 ect.) ive been getting random video skipping. It doesnt skip constantly but it does happen frequently. The skip is only a sec or so long depending on what game im playing and how much action is going on. So basically im wondering if this is due to me needing and xtra GB of ram for vista? A new graphix card? Or if this is some random issue that can be simply fixed? Im kinda in the dark about this. Im comming from a laptop with amd 3400, 1GB, and ati 9550 on windows SP2 and it ran all those games flawlessly. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thx, Denx-

Sounds like RAM to me...

Yeah I was thinking that could be a good possibility considering the 7300le card uses some system ram for its functions and also ive heard vista uses a little more resources than past OS. Anyone else think it could be a ram issue or something else?

Running Vista with 1 GB could really be the problem for anything. Get another Gig. Windows XP is fine on 1GB, but when my roomate upgraded to vista he almost had to upgrade his full build.

The reason why vista uses more resource when playing games is it has been optimized for dx10. For it to run dx9 it uses an emulator, therefore using more resources and lagging your comp. So it could be that you need more ram, it could also be that your graphics card isn't up to scratch. Try lowering the settings and see if that makes a difference.
