So I constructed my own computer, everything works pretty much except for my DVD drive, it sometimes works and then it sometimes doesnt. This is really annoying because I can't install anything or do anything now, since i need it to work.

This is what I get from Nero Info Tool

Windows sees the drive, my mobo sees the drive, but it just won't read anything that's put in. Can anyone help plz...

1.Checck to make sure everything is connected properally.

2.Your powersupply make not be good enough to power everything in your computer. Try unplugging every fan and extra harddrives and run with the bare minime, CPU/CPUfan/1harddrive/DVD drive. and see if it still sometimes works.

Could it be that when it doesnt work that it's reading copied media and not original? Some older drives may not read copied media. You can also check out if there's a firmware update for that drive. Another reason could be the IDE ribbon cable may have gone bad.

on and btw i didn't actully think up what i wrote in the last message, i remmemebred seeing it in my mobo manual LOL, also make sure the 4 pin connnecter is pluged in to the mobo.
