New computer first boot????

I have built a new computer, I have it assembled and am ready to install software. It has a clean Sata Hdd. What is require to load software to it?
My os is windows XP home. I have not done a sata drive before.
My system has a Cd,Floppy drive. Dvd,. It is clean and new. Kind of need a push in the right direction. Thanks Tod

Just treat it in the same way as a ATA HDD.

Yea what oscar said, its the same thing, just different cables, better performance =]

Start it up and make sure it can post. If not, then turn it off right away and check everything.

After that is said and done, just load the Windows XP CD in the bay and set the bios to boot from CD/DVD. Then, when it says "Press Any Key to Boot From CD....." press any key. Then, run the OS install like you would normally do.
