Alright, I need a 'gaming' computer. That will only be used for gaming. If anyone could recommened a gaming computer for 400-500. Please and thank you.

Do you need an OS?

If so, this request is almost impossible, for a build of any quality anyway.

If you don't need an OS, I can squeeze one out for $500

You never answered the question. Do you need a OS/Operating System? Plus when you say Desktop Computer does that mean a monitor/keyboard/mouse/speakers too. If so your not getting there with 400/500 bucks.

Oh no, sorry. :P I already have the mouse, key board, monitor, and speakers. I guess all I need is a new operating system. Christmas is coming up, so I can probably get something like 250-300. I already got these 2 1 GB Kingston RAM sticks, so I think I'm good on that. I just need something that reliably fast, I'm not that huge on graphics, I just want gameplay. So please give some suggestions. :)

500 bucks is a little low for a Gaming PC - here's a try

Video Card ASUS 4770 - 109

AMD triple Core 710 + Windows Vista O/S combo - $208

Gigabylte UD3P MOBO - 70.00 after $10.00 rebate

OCZ 500W power supply 49.99 after 10.00 rebate

Western Digital 250 GB Cavier Blue 45.00

Roswell Budget case $25.00 + shipping

OCZ DDR3 1333 Ram 2x2GB 69.99

HP DVD Burner 29.99 Free Shipping

Total 607 ( + shipping for Case ) If you have a hard drive - and / or DVD drive from an old PC - you can save some money - but newer drives are faster and would be ideal. Should play most any game today with good frame speed. Plus you can upgrade video card later if you want to.

What type of RAM is it. If it's DDR ram - it's useless - if it's DDR2 Ram - you could salvage it - but you may want faster speed on your RAM for a gaming PC.

Not quite sure how to read that. Graphics and gameplay kindof go hand in hand. What games do you want to play?

I meant, I don't need great graphics for the games I wanna play. I just don't want it to lag.

And those RAM cards you suggested, would 2x1 GB Kingston's work?

What kindof RAM is it?

Are you pulling it from an old system? If it's a DELL or some other pre-built PC - you can check your model number online to see what kindof RAM it is - or check the sticker on the side of the RAM. May have a marking on there. If it's DDR2 RAM - you can probably get some use out of it.

If it's DDR Ram - is pretty much legacy RAM. the RAM you use is determined by the Motherboard you are running. If your MOBO takes DDR2 - it won't take DDR or DDR3 - etc. So the short answer is - " it depends on what you got "

Also, if you have some particular games you're lookign to play - please list titles - so the gamers on the board have an idea on what video card you can go down to without lagging.

I'm pretty new to PC gaming - so my experience starts at a 9800 GTX+. I'll let others guide you on that issue if you want to go below that to save money on the video card.
