Hey, i am getting a computer made for me, and it would be great if someone could tell me what they think of these stats. :)

1gb ram
200gb hard drive
256mb nvida fx 5200 videocard
16x cd/dvd burner
pentium 4 with hyper threading
3.2 ghz
800 mhz system bus

Sounds pretty good, but make sure they aren't giving you a crappy motherboard. How much is this PC gonna cost you?

You sure about that? I have the FX 5200, and it is 128MB. I don't know if they make the same model 256MB, but I doubt it.

FX5500?

Looks decent. It more then good enough for your average everyday use. If you going to do heavy gamming your weakest link is the video card you chose and you might want to consider getting a better one if you plan to do heavy gamming. I cant tell you if it a good deal or not until you say how much this going to cost you.

They do make geforce fx5200 with 256mb even thoe it not worth the extra money at the speed of that card an extra 128mb not going to help.

Consider the 6600GT or GE or whatever is the better one

pwnd,
id reccomend the 9600 series over the fx series tho

I agree the radeon 9XXX series are usually better then the fx series when comparing models of the same price. It really depends if he has plans of gamming on this new computer and how much he wants to spend on a video card.

The Cost

I am getting this comp for 1400 (Canadian). so whats the deal with the viedo card?
:)

The system sounds OK but I really depends on what you are paying for it ;-).. Also the vid card is pretty sucky so you might think about getting a diff one.

so whats the deal with the viedo card?

It's just not overly good for gaming without going into lots of detail to make myself sound like I know what in the hell i'm talking about ;-)... I would actualy stay away from any of the FX series but that's my personal opinion.

well, I have the fx5200, 128mb card, and it runs smoothly with high end gfx games life HL2 and things like that. COnsidering the computer he is getting though, I am really not sure if 1400 bucks, isn't a little much though. The specs sound great though.
