Yo yo! I am new to the forum and wanted some quick help.
I recently just bought a Dell Inspiron 3000 (i3847-6923BK)...

I want to put a new graphics card in it & I believe that calls for a new power supply too.
My budget is $160 for the graphics card & power supply. (if you can save a few more dollars that would be great too).

Only problem is, is I have no idea which power supply would work for my computer and which type of graphics card is right for my computer as well.

overall just bang for my buck

(sorry if I posted in the wrong thread)

Would need to know what type of games you plan on playing before recommending either one.

one more question, looking at replacing my audio card with something better..... hopefully not that expensive at all, any good suggestions (ASIO driver able) thanks.........for producing music

Yes, its all compatible.

Any decent sound card should work. Not sure what ports you have open but you should have a pci and a pci express open I would think. I can't find any motherboard specs.

Your pc has a PCIe x 16 slot compatiable with the 750Ti (or any other modern GPU) and two PCIe 1.0 slots which can be used for a sound card. Id suggest installing the sound card in slot 20 to prevent distruption to the gpu airflow. www.newegg.com/global/us/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132052 Also you don't need to replace the PSU as that machine will draw less than 150W from the wall and your current 300W PSU is fine. http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphi...vert-OEMs-PCs-Gaming-PCs/Power-Consumption-Ch

So just buy the 750Ti and the sound card and install them. Then go to nvidia and download and install this http://www.nvidia.com/content/Drive...a-64bit-english-whql.exe&lang=us&type=GeForce

Restart

Then go here and make sure you update anything it finds... http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu

Then restart.

you sure I don't need another PSU? would you know the final wattage use by chance? I heard you cannot turn off the intel graphics.... just making sure thank you for the help though.

Yes, the 750Ti is a power sipper and as I have linked above, similar systems pull just over 100W from the wall.

noob question as I am purchasing the gpu today..... any difference between PCIe 3.0 x16, PCie x16, PCIe 3.0 ?
Should I just get the PCIe 3.0 which was linked?

Pcie 3.0 is the latest technology, even though your machine won't fully utilize its max potential as the motherboard as an earlier version of pci express.
