new computer please help

i just assebled my new computer, asus p5ld2 motherbord, cpu intel dual core 3.oghz 1g memory, ati x1600 512mg my hard drive is maxtor 300g sata2.
so i fdisk and then formated my hard drive. i istalled the windows me but is not runing? i get a message that IFSHLP.SYS not installed? what did i do wrong? can some one please help me. i thank you all in advace.

well first why are you trying to use windows me? is it possible this disc is scratched or damaged?

thank you all for your replies. i just found out what is wrong the new cpu does not support windows 98 , windows me. only xp home or professional and 2000 windows so i hope this information will help some one in the future thank you all

Since when does a CPU care which version of Windows is on it? Thats new to me.
