New Computer, Problem!

OK got a new computer recently, and it seems to restart/shut down when I do two different things. It is fine everywhere else.

1. When I EXIT a game called Contiuum (2d spaceship game, not really GFX demanding) I get a blue screen with some text, but I can't read it because the PC immediately proceeds to restart. The game loads up just fine.

2. When I start to run Prince of Persia, it will shutdown or restart somewhere during the opening graphics. Sometimes though, I can run it fine, even if it isn't in safe mode.

I doubt its the PSU because I have an enermax 485w PSU (12v1@18A, 12v2@18A)

It may be overheating/voltage issues. However, I can't seem to properly read my CPU/system temp. In the BIOS it says 35 C for both system and CPU temp. I downloaded an AMD utility from their site (AMD Dashboard Demo) and it reads 22 C at idle. Then Motherboard Monitor reads a CPU temp of 127 C!! I would think this is impossible? The case temp it reads is 34/35 C. How can I ACCURATELY read my CPU/system temp? Also, how do I check if the case fans/CPU fan is OK? What are ideal rpms?

I read that it could be a RAM problem. How do I test my RAM?

Could it be a motherboard problem?

Specs:

AMD A64 969 3200+ venice core
MSI K8n neo4-F mainboard
1GB RAM... don't know how to find exact specifications?

Ty.

Yeah, sounds like it could be a PSU or a RAM problem. Check the ram first and see if it returns any errors, if so bing, there's your problem, if not........more testing!

Well I updated to the latest nVidia drivers (the driver CD that came with the MSI 6600gt was old I guess), and that seems to have fixed it - no restarts or shutdowns since.

Still, I'd like to check the RAM and temperatures. I don't know how to use that program in the link  And should I just trust the temperatures in the BIOS? When I boot it says the CPU/case temps are around 35/36C. Is that too hot?

For the record, what version of drivers are you running now (and do you remember what version you had before?)

When I boot it says the CPU/case temps are around 35/36C. Is that too hot?
Temps are fine :)
