New computer software

I know if I buy an OS put it on my computer and then later throw away the computer and build another one I can transfer the OS to the new computer. Can I do that with MS office? I have MS office student 2010 3 users on 3 computers and I built a new computer and spending $150 so I can use word and excel really sucks?

Office is different from the OS license. Office is only good on one computer no matter what unless you buy the 3 license version for 3 different computers.

It seem foolish to buy a single user MS office for around $150 and then a week later your computer blows up and you just lost $150. Is this right?

Incorrect. You can reuse it as long as it's not on another operating computer. So if your computer blows up you can use it on whatever new PC you get.

As stated, it's just how many computers office is installed on. If you ever do the phone activation the question is 'how many computers is this copy of Office currently installed on'.

Therefore, if you remove it from a previous PC then you can add it to a different one, just not both concurrently.

I called Microsoft up and it took about an hour but I took MS Office off my 6 year old computer and put it on my new build so I can have 3 computers running MS Office 2010 and can take it off one and put it on another but I must of went though a hundred numbers doing it but it was worth saving $139.
