New Computer- What to get to make the best. Have added the amount to spend

Hello everyone. I need to know the good hardware out there to make a awsome gaming PC. I am a student at this time but I also like to let loose some frustration with various computer games. I need a new system to last for many many years to come. Price isnt really an option but i'm not a millionaire. Thanks alot guys and gals for the help.
I plane to spend no more the 3000 and i plan to build it myself.
