I hope someone can help!!
I got a new computer a few weeks ago with Windows XP Professional.
Now - the older computer had 2 good, big drives so I asked the salesman if they could transfer over my 2 old hard drives to the new computer after he had installed Windows and got the new computer going - so this was done. Good.
When he installed Windows on the new computer he kept the normal "Administrator" that comes with the software, and created a new one too with the same name as I had on the old computer (which he could see all the details of since the older computer was running & sitting on another table while he was installing Windows etc
Anyway, I've now got a problem in that
- when I switch on the computer the Administrator logs on and the Windows landscape comes up on the screen together with no real shortcuts etc in Program files etc. It's like a brand-new computer.
- the only way I can bring up the other administrator - the one that he created that has all the shortcuts that came with the older computer, all the features etc - is to log-off as the Administrator, and log on as the other (let's call him "Old-one") So I do that - log off as Admin & log on as Old-one - and then it's all OK - the start program shortcuts, the taskbar, the screen ... everything is OK as it's under the Old-one admin profile.
..... have I explained it correctly so you can understand?
What I want to do is have the older administrator ("old-one") as the default or main administrator so that I don't have to keep swapping each time I switch on the computer (either that, or delete one of the administrators)
Can someone tell me how I can do this? I've searched the Windows help centre and can't find anything .....
ANY help would be really appreciated
Thanks
