New computer wont start

I just got a dell dimension E510 and can't get the operating system to start. The computer came with a Windows Media Center OS if that matters.

The only screen that has loaded is the screen with the service tag and express service code. The monitor says "There is no signal coming from your computer..." Maybe I didn't hook up all the cables correctly? The only wires I have hooked up from the monitor are the VGA, DVI, power cord, and USB cable.

Any ideas? Sorry for my ignorance.

Make sure your monitor is securily plugged in.

The supply would have to work for that while maybe not having enough power to run the system. But that would be a little rare. Mostly the small wires for the power switch popped off or the four wire plug for the newer boards is not plugged in. Without that the system will fail to boot on AMD models our since the Socket A type mainly on Socket 939 boards for sure. See if anything inside looks lifted up from the board. If not the board itself could have a bad bios chipset direct from the factory.

When restarting the computer it goes in the following sequence. . .

1. Dell.com logo
2. Windows XP trademark
3. Auto adjust in progress
4. Entering power save
5. Black screen

Should I reinstall the Media Center OS?

Also, when I hit the input select button on the monitor it shows a picture of the VGA cord and then proceeds back into power save.
