New computer

I am new here and I hope this is the right forum to ask my question.

I have just changed to a new computer. The internet ISP that I am using is Netzero DSL. Before I made the change, I thought I would need the Netzero connection wizard program installed in the new computer in order to go online. But then right after I had hooked up the new computer, to my surprise, it connected online right away. Now I am surfing the net with no problem. I am very curious why I can be online without having installed any netzero software in the new computer. Actually, am I using netzero to go online now? I know this might be a very dumb question. So please be bear with me if that's the case.

You're using DSL. There's no configuration that needs to be done. It's all done in the modem going to the phone line. The only time you need to set anything up to go online is if you use 56K dialup.

Thank you.

But then, if I remember correctly, why would I had to install the Netzero's "connection wizard" CD in my old computer in order to go online? And why would Netzero even give out the CD if it is not needed to get connected?

Might be bloatware/adware or other utilities you don't need.
Did you really need to use the CD on the old computer or did you just load it without trying first?
