Due to various circumstances (time issues, no experiance....etc) i cant build my own computer. BUT i need a new one so i was wondering if anyone could reccomend a good comp. from a solid company. I can can do basic upgrades (RAM, video card) so if it just needs a liiittle tweaking do it. I am looking for a good media pc, one i can do everything on and has room for upgrades:D (budget of around 1,200$) thanks soo much in advance:)
 
there really isn't a GOOD top of the line BEST computer... it really just depends on you as the user. name brands? dell, gateway, e.machines, sony, compaq, etc.. but do keep in mind name brands are a tad more expensive for lets say a no brand with pretty much the same specifications.

if you live close to computer show area's, u might want to check those out...

what will you mostly be doing when u refer to as media?
musics, videos, games? video/image editing? music editing? etc..

so we know if ur better w/ a good graphics, or more ram, cpu, hdd space.. etc..
 
yes music, video, games and possibly a small amount of photo editing thanks for the reply, i can also make video card and RAM upgrades so a good base computer with expandibility would be good too

I would go with Ibuypower or Cybersystems or whatever they're called. They are the cheapes but I hate there cases.
 
True. I am looking in my PC World magazine right now and they have a 2 page advertisement of their computers. They have 3 selections of media center PCs. They really don't have that good of specs and I would expect more from a media PC (The hard drive is miniscule). But as you said earlier, you can upgrade. Prices rang anywhere from 750-1300. However they are all in small form factor cases... I guess all media center PC's come like that, but I'm not sure
 
I beleive ibuy power/cyberpower has a really low costumer satisfaction rating, like really really low and i dont trust them atall
 
After much research i have come to the conclusion that i will have to build my own. I really didnt want to but i think it is necessary thanks for all the suggestions.
