This is what I'm thinking about getting:

ASUS A8V SKT 939 K8T800 Pro 8X AGP GB LAN SATA motherboard - £42.01

Athlon 64 bit 4200X2 dual core SKT 939 CPU - £239.00

ASUS DVD RW/DL DRW-1608P25 - £30.00

1GB DDR400 PC3200 RAM - £58.00

250GB HD Maxtor Serial ATA300 7200RPM 16MB Cache - £57.00

All prices are from Anglian Internet Online.

I basically wanted to know if it would all work. I'm keeping my current graphics card, AGP ATI Radeon 9200 SE 128MB. And if I could get them cheaper online anywhere else. And remember UK websites only please!

I also wondered if you could recommend a decent wireless & optical mouse & keyboard set, and a flat screen monitor that's decently priced, atleast 17".

That is quite a powerful processor for a crappy AGP GPU.

I would either, downgrade to an X2 3800+ and then upgrade your GPU, mobo, or RAM.
 
I should have asked in my previous post, what are you using this computer for? Im guessing it's not for games since your using a 9200SE, but if you could tell us what your using it for we may be able to give you a few suggestions.
 
What is wrong with a 9200 SE? It runs my Sims 2 on the highest graphics.

And I only got it 2 and a half years ago. Of course I'm planning to upgrade it sometime but not right now.

I mostly use my computer for the Internet. And at the moment, with anything more than 4 windows open it runs extremely slow. And with MSN running as well.

I like to play The Sims 2 & am hoping to buy a few more games once I get my computer upgraded.

Okay, so as you all say I have a crappy graphics card. Would you say it's better to get a mobo with a PCI express slot, and change my graphics card? What would you recommend as a mobo & gpu?

i'm dying to get rid of it right now
it's killing me
don't ever think about keeping it
try a mobo with PCI-E and a decent graphics card... and lower processor

I would take the graphics card and keep it for now and stick with a higher proc.
 
But then in the future I'll have to buy another mobo with a PCI-E slot. As I can't find one that has AGP & PCI-E. Which is a bit stupid if you ask me.

So, can anyone come up with a similar PC that will support Vista for me please?

Scrap that I just found one.
