Im was looking to buy a new pc, but have decided (as i have loads of spare parts) to upgrade the mobo and cpu in my gaming pc and use the parts to build the new pc. As the name suggests, this pc is for gaming only and im quite happy with the q9550 performance atm. What cpu do you guys think would be the best for me, considering price and overclocking?

If only for gaming, get an i5 2500k or i5 3570k. They will do as good as an expensive i7 and they overclock like hell.
The i5 3570k is newer though, I would grab that with your needs.

What chipset would you go for to get best OC?
Also getting parts where i live is hard and theres not so much choice, what would you get between 3770k (€244) and 2500k (€177) ?

first off, your current rig is plenty for gaming still.

second off, if your getting a 2500k, go for a P67 or Z68 motherboard. If you go 3570k, then get a Z77 motherboard. And do not cheap out on your motherboard. Gigabyte, Asus, and EVGA are pretty much the only companies to look at now.

Yeah I agree with what Wolfe said above. The Q9550 is still a pretty good CPU and with your 680 you should be fine for gaming. If you feel the need to upgrade, all of those CPUs you mentioned are faster than the Q9550, but if this is for gaming I'd actually forget about the i5 2500K and go for a 3570K instead.

Get a 3570K with a Z77 board and you'll be happy. Providing your current RAM is DDR2, you'll need DDR3 RAM for a new CPU/board.

If there is an i7 3770k for that price, I would go for the i7 though...
But the i5 is good enough, it will game with the same performance and is cheaper if you want to spare money.
Where do you got the i7 from? Never saw a that low priced one :P
